Hello, Just thought we would check in and let you know what plants are proving to be most popular this time of year and at the moment this is our carnivorous range. We are lucky enough to have access to a wide range of carnivorous and although the more well known venus fly trap is the best seller, the other varieties are not far behind. We have Sarracenia, Nepenthes and drosera in stock and also some pinguicula arriving later this week.
We have lots of customers that have carnivorous collections and they are busy dropping in to buy all the carnivorous specialised substrates and pots. If you think that you would like to have some fun with some carnivorous, here are some simple tips on how to keep them.
Keeping carnivorous plants is fairly easy when a few basic rules are followed, these include the substrate and the water and not forgetting the sunshine.
1) Buy your plant from a reputable seller who knows how to care for carnivorous plants. In our experience many do not and your purchase might be already doomed before you reach home with it as your plant may have been kept already in the wrong conditions.
2) Not tap water! Ever! They cannot tolerate the added minerals, fluoride or worst of all chlorine bleach.
Rain water is best or if this isn’t possible then using distilled or reverse osmosis (RO) Water. This can normally be purchased easily from your local aquatic shop.
Our QR code with every plant we sell will give you all the care advise you should need.
If you feel you would like to start keeping carnivorous please feel free to message us either on this blog or privately if you prefer by email facebook or instagram for any help or advice. We are always happy to help
