Spathiphyllum Diamond White. Another hard to come by plant. The beautiful creamy white marbled leaves, easy care, and natural air cleaning properties make this very collectable.

Spathiphyllum, the Peace Lily, is one of the most loved and popular plants grown. Their enduring appeal is easy to see as they are simple to care for, beautiful and elegant. The common name Peace Lily comes from the flower which looks like a white flag raised in surrender.

Often considered the ideal plant for a low light position, the peace lily will adapt and survive, although may not flower. For better growth it prefers natural indirect light, but absolutely no direct sun as the leaves will scorch badly.

When watering try to keep the compost evenly moist, although easily adapts to watering thoroughly then being allowed to become dry. Best practice is to water well from below, allowing the top of the compost to remain dry, avoiding any problems that can occur with excess moisture around the base of the stem. Approximately once a week should be enough depending on your home, and the position of the plant. Just make sure to allow the top 1-2 inches of compost to dry between watering. If possible they much prefer rainwater, or tap water that has been allowed to stand for 24 hours.

If neglected Peace Lily recover amazingly from wilting, try not to let this happen too often as the leaves will suffer from yellowing.

To help humidity group together with other plants, place the pot on a saucer of moist pebbles / gravel, and regular misting will all benefit your plant

Room temperatures between 18-24c is ideal.

Not a heavy feeder so only requires a diluted half strength fertiliser once a month while in flower, usually Spring and Summer.

Minimum Temp: 16c

In Winter, when temperatures are lower, and growth is slow, reduce the amount and frequency of water, again making sure to allow the soil to dry between watering. This will take longer, so don`t be hasty. Do not fertilise.

Avoid cold draughts and sources of direct heat.

Remove faded flowers by cutting close to the base.

Plants tend to bloom better when slightly pot bound so repot only when necessary.

Warnings: Contains crystals of calcium oxalate, to deter livestock from eating them. Therefore problematic to pets and humans if consumed. Causes irritation and swelling in the mouth. Best practice is to keep out of reach.
