Product Overview
Selaginella Martensii Jori – also known as ` Martens Clubmoss `.
This compact evergreen moss comes from a very diverse family of plants with about 700 known varieties. The soft, feathery fronds are soft to the touch and encourage you to touch them. An ideal plant in a terrarium, as they do love some extra humidity, or great in the bathroom. Follow these steps to best keep your plant.
Selaginella are best kept in shade to natural light, but you must avoid any direct sun as the fronds will become scorched and shrivelled.
Keep the soil slightly moist, not dripping wet, but never dry out. If possible use collected rainwater.
Selaginella love humidity so regular misting, grouping together with other plants, or standing on a saucer of wet pebbles, or gravel will greatly increase humidity around the plant. If the fronds start curl up and dry out then this a sure sign that you need to try to increase the humidity.
In Summer average to warm temperatures between 20-25c.
In Winter, when growth is slow, temperatures down to 16c.
Pruning Selaginella is unnecessary, as they remain compact.
Repot only once it has outgrown its container, and only go a pot size up. Use good quality, free draining compost.
Fertilize lightly, once a month from Spring to Summer with a diluted half strength liquid feed.
