Product Overview
Cyclamen Persicum.
One of the most recognised flowering plants for the festive season. This cultivar has been successfully bred for over 150 years to come in to flower through the Winter. It comes in a wide choice of colours, flower types, and leaf colours, and are found all over the world at Christmas. These particular plants are grown locally, and are of the best quality available anywhere.
Cyclamen do best in bright, indirect light. It will be happy at normal room temperature, but will last much longer if kept in a cool place ( 13c / 55f ) Yellow, drooping leaves can be a sign of too much water, but is often mistaken for being too dry, so more water is given which makes things worse. Water the cyclamen from below by standing in a saucer of water when the pot starts to feel a little light, this helps to stop excess moisture on the top of the soil which can lead to the leaf stems and flowers rotting off. Make sure any remaining water drains away before returning to a saucer or pot cover. Remove spent flowers with a sharp tug. Keep away from direct heat source, such as radiators.
Cyclamen originate from the Mediterranean, where they grow in the cooler Autumn months, and become dormant and die back during the heat of Summer. So your cyclamen will wilt, become yellow, and rest after approximately March / April. Allow to dry out very thoroughly and wait until about September before you expect to see any signs of new growth.
