Product Overview
Rhododendron Simsii and Azalea Indica are both members of the extensive genus of large flowering shrubs traditionally cultivated as an indoor plant for a bright, cool position in the home.
Indoor Azaleas are undemanding, low maintenance, and flower for a long period.
They come in many colours, and flower types, and are often bought at Christmas in flower to give a bright splash of colour for the festive season.
Best kept in a bright spot, out of direct sun, as they will dry up too quickly.
The cooler the room the longer the flowers will last, ideally between 12-20c.
Azaleas don`t like hot, dry air so keep well away from any direct heat sources.
Azaleas are thirsty plants in flower, and may need a thorough watering twice a week. Best practice is to use rainwater if possible, stand the pot in water for about 15 minutes until the soil is thoroughly saturated, avoid watering from above as excess water will sit on the flowers and cause them to damp off, and don`t allow to sit in water constantly as can lead to root rot.
Feed occasionally with a specific Azalea / Rhododendron acid loving plant feed as per instructions.
Remove the faded flowers once they have withered, to encourage more blooms, and continue to water as normal.
Repot as necessary using Ericaceous Compost ( Acidic ) only once it is very pot bound. Do not repot while in flower, as plant shock can lead to bud drop.
Prune yearly after flowering to control the size and encourage better blooms next season.
Warning: Not for consumption. Listed as toxic to pets and humans.
