Product Overview
Amaryllis.
Stunning, large flowering bulbs native to the sub-tropical regions of the Americas.
Traditional flower for the festive season.
Usually bought before Christmas as a potted bulb in bud.
Many stunning colours available, so treat yourself to this Christmas tradition.
Don`t throw away the bulb after it as flowered. With a bit of care it is easy to get it to bloom again.
Once it has flowered the bulb will continue to grow, so it`s a good time to pot it on, use only a slightly larger pot, as Amaryllis do best when pot bound, and good quality, free draining peat free compost.
Remove the faded flower stem by cutting it off at the base.
Water well, but allow to dry between waterings.
After any threat of frost has passed place the bulb outside throughout Summer.
Water and feed to promote leaf growth, which in turn strengthens the bulb.
Come August stop watering the bulb completely to encourage a dormant period.
The leaves will yellow, and die back.
After approx.. 8 weeks, towards mid-October, bring the plant back indoors.
The combination of cool night temperatures and the dormant period should encourage the bud to form.
And hopefully it will bloom beautifully again that year.
